Questions & Answers

Your health and safety are our priority. This is why the museum’s reopening coincides with a hygiene plan, which is updated regularly and implemented according to official regulations. Precautionary measures for protection against infection include – but are not limited to – the obligation of visitors to present proof of either full vaccination or recovery, a visitor limit and regulation of visitors through tickets booked for time slots, an optimized system for visitor traffic within the museum, as well as increased sanitation of strategic areas.

The regulated distance of at least 1 ½ meters between individuals, as well as sneeze- and cough etiquette, are to be observed at all times. Visitors are required to wear medical masks (FFP2- or surgical masks), which are to be worn over the mouth and nose. Masks may be brought from home or purchased at the ticket desk within the museum.

Stay safe! We are looking forward to your visit!

Please note that, due to current official regulations, you can only visit the Städel Museum with negative proof. We kindly ask you to present your negative proof together with a photo ID.

A booster vaccination is considered to be:

For visitors carrying proof of triple vaccination (‘boostered’), there is no testing obligation.

A negative test is considered to be a negative antigen test (not older than 24 hours) or a negative PCR test (not older than 48 hours).

    • children under 7 not enrolled in school
    • school students with a current student test booklet or student ID card
Online Ticket and Entrance to the Museum

Please buy a timed online ticket before your visit.

    • The timed ticket entitles you to a one-time entry to the museum for the date and time stated on the ticket. It is valid for the Liebieghaus collection and all special exhibitions. Every ticket will be accepted only once at the admissions control point.
    • Please note that our time-slot tickets are released in the online shop just a few days before each respective date. To ensure that we can respond flexibly to changes in the health authority guidelines, we are currently unable to offer long-term time-slot planning. If your desired date is not shown yet, please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience.
    • Please be sure to stick to the time slot you have chosen for your visit. This will enable us to coordinate the influx of visitors in such a way as to maintain the hygiene regulations.
    • Please go to the main entrance and wait at the marked waiting positions. Our staff will regulate admission and scan your ticket.
    • Please observe the rules of hygiene during your visit.
    • Children (dependents) under 18 in the company of at least one adult holding a valid online ticket will be granted admission free of charge.
    • No subsequent returns or refunds.
    • We need your help to ensure that all visitors can observe the ‘AHA’ rules (distance, hygiene, masking). We apologize for any queues and waiting times, for example at the entrances to the locker room and the restrooms.
    • To prevent groups from forming, we have set up guided routes through the museum. Please observe the information signs posted in the museum.

Please note: Persons holding a press ID, MuseumsuferCard/-Ticket, voucher, or other special entitlement and members of the Städelscher Museums-Verein are entitled to visit the museum free of charge. Please ask for a free ticket at the cashier’s desk.

    MuseumsuferCard/-Ticket

The MuseumuferCard and MuseumsuferTicket entitle their holders to free admission to all participating Frankfurt museums. Priority admission is not covered by the offer and unfortunately also not possible during special exhibitions. Please consult the museum cooperation pool guidelines for the MuseumsuferCard and the MuseumsuferTicket (in German). On presentation of your MuseumsuferCard or -Ticket plus photo ID at the desk, you will be issued a free admission ticket.

Visitors with a press pass, MuseumsuferCard or -Ticket, vouchers, and other special conditions, as well as members of the Städelverein are entitled to visit the museum free of charge. Please ask for a free ticket at the cashier’s desk.
